Giants split with St. Scholastica




Ft. Pierce, FL (3-15-12) - Blaine O'Brien continued his strong start on the mound for the Giants, as Keystone split a twinbill with St. Scholastica College.

The Giants took the opener 5-1, before falling in the night cap 3-2.

With the split, the 13th ranked Giants move to 7-2 on the year, while St. Scholastica evens its mark at 6-6.

In the opener, O'Brien, the Division III NCBWA Pitcher of the Week, twirled five innings of two-hit ball in picking up the win.  He struck out four and did not allow an earned run. 

Frank Mormino, Austin Straub and  Tyler Caserta each picked up two hits as part Keystone's 10-hit game.  Straub tripled and doubled while driving in a pair.  Mormino also doubled and scored a run.  Esteban Meletiche also tripled and drove in two.

In the nightcap, Rob Rogers, worked six strong innings despite being saddled with the loss. Rogers allowed three runs, all unearned, while also scattering six hits and striking out seven.

Meletiche picked up two hits, as the Giants could only muster five in the game.  Lymbel Guerrero provided the big blast, homering for the Giants.

Keystone will take on Rutgers-Camden on Friday at 4pm in their final game in Ft. Pierce.
