Keystone bats get wake-up call




Newark, NJ (4-2-12) - The Keystone College baseball team had an offensive awakening on Monday, as the Giants knocked out 15 hits, while taking advantage of seven Rutgers-Newark errors, as the Giants downed the Scarlet Raiders , 18-4 in non-conference action.

With the win the 10th ranked Giants move to 13-4, while Rutgers falls to 11-8.

The Giants scored in six of the eight innings that were completed, with a seven run eight providing the closing blow.

Esteban Meletiche and Andrew Siano each knocked out three hits, with Siano picking up a pair of doubles.  Siano drove in three and scored twice, while Meletiche scored three and drove in two.  Meletiche also swiped three bases.

Gabriel Molina doubled as part of a two-hit, three RBI game, while Frank Mormino tripled and scored three times. 

Lymbel Guerrero and Chris Bzozowski also picked up a pair of hits, while driving in two and scoring twice.

The Giants held a 6-1 lead after three innings, putting up three runs before Rutgers ever came to the plate. 

Connor Smith picked up the win, allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out two.  Mike Rossi and Adam Krebs teamed for one-hit relief over the final four innings, striking out four.

The Giants will return to action on Wednesday at 3:30pm when they host York (PA) College.
