Camden, NJ (4-5-12) - Lymbel Guerrero laid down a one-out squeeze bunt in the ninth inning, scoring
Austin Straub from third base with the winning run, as 11th ranked Keystone College put together a furious ninth inning rally to down 25th ranked Neumann University 7-6 in CSAC baseball action.
With the victory Keystone moves to 15-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference, while Neumann falls to 19-7 and 5-2.
Keystone entered the last frame trailing by five runs, but the Giants strung together six hits and took advantage of two Knights errors, in pushing across six runs to win the battle of the two top teams in the conference.
Keystone began the comeback as the first three hitters reached base safely before Esteban Meletiche delivered a run scoring single which scored Chris Bzozowski who reached on an error to start things off. Tyler Caserta then drew a bases loaded walk to score Miquel Castano to cut the lead to 6-3.
Pinch hitter
Austin Straub cut the lead to two, reaching on a fielders choice, but picking up an important RBI as Joshua Paradoa scored. Gabriel Molina followed with a RBI single down the left field line scoring Meletiche and Caserta with the tying runs.
That scenario set the stage for Guerrero, whose bunt was fielded by the pitcher as Straub scored the go ahead run.
Castano doubled as part of a three hit game for the Giants, while Meletiche and Caserta picked up two hit games. Molina and Guerrero each drove in a pair, while Meletiche scored twice.
Adam Krebs picked up the win in relief , working one and one-third innings, allowing two hits and no runs. Derek Alex allowed a leadoff hit in the ninth, but nothing more in notching the save.
These same two teams will get back at it on Saturday with a noon doubleheader at Keystone.
