Keystone Closes CSAC Regular Season Campaign With 5-4 Win at Immaculata

Krebs records sixth save of the season after Giants get go-ahead run in eighth

Immaculata, PA – Keystone College scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning of Wednesday's afternoon's Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball game at Immaculata University and Adam Sosnowski (Dickson City, PA/Mid-Valley) and Adam Krebs (Commack, NY/Commack) kept the Mighty Macs off the board over the final two innings as the Giants secured a 5-4 win.  Keystone, currently ranked 14th in the country, improves to 29-7 on the season and finishes the spring with a 17-1 record in conference play with their 10th straight victory.

Keystone jumped out to a 3-0 lead in their first at-bats on three hits and two Immaculata errors.  Kevin Catherina (Ridgefield, NJ/St. Mary (Rutherford)) scored on a Gabriel Ramirez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Perkiomen School) single to left to open up the scoring before crossing the plate along with Gabriel Molina (Bronx, NY/James Monroe) on a throwing error by the Mighty Macs after an infield single by Lymbel Guerrero (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical).

Immaculata (13-17, 4-11 CSAC) got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the first as Matt Lawson scored on an infield single off the bat of Joe DiGiaimo before Elijah Vottero scored on a bunt single by Robert Wallace.

The Giants pushed their lead back to two runs at 4-2 in the top of the fifth inning when Jose Garcia (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) scored on an Austin Straub (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) sacrifice fly, but the Mighty Macs scored a pair of runs in the home sixth to tie the contest at four-apiece.  DiGiaimo walked home after Billy Gaines was hit by a pitch with the base loaded and TJ Lawson scored on a walk to Lawson with the sack still full.

Molina opened up the visitor's eighth with a double to right center before moving to third on a sacrifice bunt by Rick McLaughlin (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert).  Following a strikeout the put the host's an out away from escaping the jam, Immaculata's pitcher was called for a balk allowing Molina to trot home with what would prove to be the game winning run as Sosnowski pitched a scoreless eighth before turning the ball over to Krebs, who nailed down his sixth save of the year by recording the final three outs – two by strikeout – after hitting the leadoff batter.

Keystone starter Rob Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) took a no-decision after allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out nine batters in six innings of work.  Sosnowski was credited with the win to improve to 4-0 on the season while lowering his ERA to 0.96 on the season.

Straub and Molina had two hits apiece to lead the Giants with Molina scoring a pair of runs while Domenick Montanaro (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) stole three bases in the win.

Immaculata starter Aaron Dietrich surrendered four runs on four hits while walking three and striking out two in a no-decision.  Nicholas Campione struck out four in two scoreless innings of work while Bryan McHale was tagged with the loss despite striking out five and allowing just Molina's double in two innings on the hill.

Wallace led the Mighty Macs at the plate after going 3-4 with an RBI while Vottero and DiGiaimo added a pair of hits in the loss.

Keystone will return to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon when they host Oneonta State University in a non-conference game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Christy Mathewson Field.
