Keystone Drops Season Finale to Marywood, 3-0

Kashuba honored in halftime ceremony; Coon makes six saves in loss

La Plume, PA – Kimberly Vogan scored a pair of goals to lead Marywood University to a 3-0 victory over Keystone College in the regular season finale for both teams on Thursday afternoon.  The Pacers will head into next week's CSAC playoffs with a 7-10-1 overall record and a 7-3-1 mark in Colonial States Athletic Conference play while the Giants close the 2014 campaign with a 5-9-3 (3-5-3 CSAC) record.

Marywood took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute of Thursday's contest when Vogan took a short pass from Brianna Bruster and ripped a left-footed shot from 22 yards out just inside the far post.  Despite being outshot 8-1 over the opening 45 minutes of play, Keystone was able to hold their deficit at just one goal heading into halftime thanks to three first half saves from goalkeeper Katelyn Coon (Selden, NY/St. John the Baptist ).

With their lone shot of the first half being a harmless effort from long range in the closing seconds of the period, Keystone nearly pulled level just over three minutes into the second half when Jenna Moranski (Gardiner, NY/New Paltz) settled a cross from Jem Crockford (York, England/Sparta) before placing her shot just wide of the target.

Marywood was able to capitalize at the other moments later, as Vogan netted her second goal of the game, taking a feed from Alixandria Fiore and beat Coon over the top from 25 yards out in the game's 51st minute.

Keystone looked to draw back to within a goal with just under 26 minutes remaining in regulation, but Marywood goalkeeper Victoria Pezdirtz made a nice diving stop to deny Moranski's shot from the top of the box.  The Pacers would cap the scoring in the 88th minute when Jordan Salgado slid to tap a low cross from Krista Capelli into an empty net with Elizabeth Carlson also picking up an assist on the goal.

Marywood finished the afternoon with a 19-4 advantage in shots including a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.  The Pacers claimed a narrow, 2-1 edge in corner kicks as well.

Pezdirtz picked up the win in goal for the visitors after making two saves in the full 90 minutes of action.

Coon finished the game with six saves and will enter her senior year next fall just one save out of second place all-time in Keystone history.  Coon made 108 saves this fall, the seventh-most in a single season in school history.

At halftime of Thursday's game, Keystone honored Olivia Kashuba (Dickson City, PA/Summit Christian Academy) who played her final game in a Giants uniform.  Kashuba led Keystone in scoring this fall with 16 points on six goals and four assists and totaled 13 goals and seven assists for 33 points on her career while scoring four game-winning goals in three seasons.
