Baseball Team Participates in Caring for Colby Benefit

Giants help five-year old Colby Stanton who is battling Eosinophilic Esophagitis

Factoryville, PA – Keystone College's baseball team pitched in a helping hand on Sunday by participating in the Caring for Colby Benefit held at the Factoryville Fire Hall.  The event was held to benefit five-year old Colby Stanton, who was recently diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE) which is a rare eating disorder that has no cure.

Colby lives life day to day like any other child.  He runs, he plays and goes to school.  He plays on his baseball and soccer team.  To most people, Colby looks like any other boy his age.  The problem is Colby is no regular child.  Since Colby was a baby he has had trouble gaining weight and eating and would vomit frequently.  Recently Colby was diagnosed with EOE.

Colby has very severe food allergies which inflame his entire digestive tract.  Colby's body considers most foods toxic, relying on him to take a special nutritional formula through a feeding tube.  Colby also has to deal with weekly and monthly trips to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for checkups with Gastroenterologists, Allergists, Immunologists and Nutritionists.  He also must have Endoscopies done every three months for his entire life.

Sunday's event raised money for Colby's benefit through a chicken BBQ dinner and raffles.  Additionally, kid's activities were held and Keystone's baseball team was there to help raise funds and make it an enjoyable day.

Monetary donations to benefit Colby Stanton and his family can be sent to: Peoples Security Bank, Nicholson, PA – Proceeds Colby's Medical Care Costs.
