La Plume, PA – Keystone College's baseball team, will begin its quest for a sixth-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship on Wednesday afternoon when they host #4 seed Neumann University at 3:00 p.m. in a first round contest at Christy Mathewson Field in La Plume. The Giants, who are the top-seed in this year's conference tournament, will also host a second round game in the double-elimination tournament on Thursday afternoon.
#2 Gwynedd Mercy will host #3 Immaculata University on Wednesday's other first round matchup. The winners of Wednesday's opening round games will play on Thursday afternoon the losers will also play on Thursday in an elimination game. On Friday, the remaining 1-1 teams will play an elimination game while the 2-0 team will receive a bye to Saturday's championship round where they will take on the winner of Friday's game. Saturday's championship game will begin at 12:00 p.m. with an "if necessary" game to follow pending the outcome of the contest at noon.
All games will be played on the campus of the team holding the higher seed between the two competing teams, meaning that Keystone will enjoy home field advantage throughout the tournament. The winner of the CSAC Championship will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals which begin on Wednesday, April 14
After starting the season 3-9, Keystone has won 21 of their last 24 games to take a 24-12 overall record into Wednesday's first round game against Neumann (17-19, 10-8 CSAC)). The Giants finished atop the CSAC standings after going 16-2 in conference play this spring including a 6-2 mark against the three other playoff qualifiers. Keystone swept the regular season series against Neumann while going 2-1 against both Gwynedd Mercy (18-16-1, 12-6 CSAC) and Immaculata (20-12, 11-7 CSAC).
