Scranton, PA – Keystone College remain perfect in Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Thursday night by sweeping host Marywood University in three sets for their sixth win in their last seven matches. The Giants, who have not dropped a set in their first four CSAC matches of the season, boost their overall record to 11-3 including a 4-0 mark in conference action after notching their first win in 13 tries against the Pacers.
Keystone took the lead with a 25-11 win in the first set before extending their advantage to two sets to none with a 25-13 decision in the second game. The two teams went point for point throughout set three, but the Giants ultimately prevailed 25-22 to complete the sweep.
Keystone was paced by
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area), who recorded her third double-double of the season on a team-best 11 kills to go along with a match high 12 digs to go along with a pair of service aces.
Ashley Williams (Virginia Beach, VA/Green Run) put down seven kills on 18 total attacks and added two aces while
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) contributed three kills in the win.
Carol Mosier (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) led all players with 15 assists while
Shaylah Ware (Newark, NJ/Science Park) served up a match-leading five aces to go along with five digs.
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) joined Zuchowski in double-figures for digs with 10 while
Shatia Silas (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) added a pair of blocks for the Giants in the win.
Marywood (1-13, 1-2 CSAC) was led by Mallorie Deschaine, who posted a match-best 13 kills to go along with nine digs and two aces. Danielle DeIulio dished out a team-best 13 assists and had six digs for the Pacers, who got eight digs from Amanda Khozouri in the loss. The hosts also received a match-high four blocks from Lauren Besecker in the contest.
Keystone will be back in action on Wednesday night with a non-conference match at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
