Mighty Macs Shut Down Giants, 3-0

Immaculata scores three second half goals to pull away with win

Immaculata, PA – Immaculata University scored three second half goals to pull away with a 3-0 victory over Keystone College in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.  The Mighty Macs improve to 5-7 this fall including a 3-1 mark in conference play while the Giants slip to 5-5-1 overall and 2-2 in league contests.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half of Saturday's contest with the closest call coming in the 12th minute when Immaculata's Alex Noel hit the crossbar.  The Mighty Macs held a 6-1 advantage in shots over the opening 45 minutes of play, but Keystone goalkeeper Adam Zbiciak (Saint Johns, MI/St. Johns) made three saves in the period to keep the game scoreless.

Immaculata broke the scoreless tie just 3:11 into the second half when Noel converted a penalty kick.  Noel doubled the host's lead in the 57th minute, taking a pass from Matt Dunn before beating Zbiciak for his fifth goal of the season.  The Mighty Macs closed out the scoring with 26 minutes remaining as Stephen Smith tallied his first goal of the year with Luke Santoni setting up the team's third goal of the game.

Immaculata doubled up Keystone in shots, 12-6 on the afternoon while holding a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal.  The Giants held a slim, 4-3 edge in corner kicks in the game.

Joe Lubonski made one save on the day, denying Djavan Guy (New York, NY/St. John's Prep) in the 72nd minute, to pick up the shutout victory in goal for Immaculata while Zbiciak made four stops in a losing effort for the Giants.

Haris Sabovic (Brodheadsville, PA/Pleasant Valley) led Keystone with two shots on the day while Guy, Rolando Rodriguez (Linden, NJ/Linden), Eddy Enowbi (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook), and Kouassi Kouadio (Mount Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) attempted one shot each in the loss.
