Keystone Falls to #25 Albright in Non-Conference Women’s Basketball Action

Hall records fourth double-double of the season in loss to Lions

La Plume, PA - Nationally-ranked Albright College built a 37-19 halftime lead and never looked back in a 78-41 victory over Keystone College in non-conference women's basketball action in the Gambal Athletic Center on Wednesday night. The Lions, currently ranked #25 in the country according the latest USA Today Sports Division III Poll, remain unbeaten at 8-0 on the season while the Giants fall to .500 on the year at 4-4.

Keystone's Destinee Hall (Spring Valley, NY/Paramus Catholic) opened the scoring in Wednesday night's contest with a layup before Albright used a 15-2 run to hold an 11-point advantage with 2:12 remaining in the first period. A Daynara Elysee (Spring Valley, NY/Ramapo) field goal with just over a minute remaining cut the Giants' deficit to 15-9, but the Lions would hold a 17-9 lead after the first stanza.

Albright scored the first 14 points of the second quarter to stretch their lead to31-9 before Keystone battled back to within 14 points, 31-17, with an 8-0 spurt. The visitors closed the period with a 6-2 run to take a 37-19 lead into the locker room at the halftime break.

Kelecia Harris led all scorers with 12 points in the first half to go along with six rebounds while Nina Mazzarelli chipped in with seven points and four assists in the opening 20 minutes of play for the Lions, who shot 40 percent from the field while going 1-6 from three-point range and 8-12 from the free throw line over the first two periods.

Hall paced Keystone's offense with six first-half points while leading all players with seven rebounds. Bryce Garrett (Philadelphia, PA/John Bartram) added five points while Elysee and Nina Hodanich (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) and contributed four points apiece for the Giants, who were held to just five field goals in the first half while going 1-8 from beyond the arc and 8-14 from the charity stripe.

Albright put the game out of reach by outscoring Keystone 23-6 in the third period, but the Giants battled to the end and put up a game-best 16 points in the fourth stanza to 18 points for the Lions.

Harris finished with a game-high 18 points to go along with 11 rebounds to lead the visitors, who held a 52-34 advantage on the boards for the game. Mazzarelli added 17 points while Jane Joyce added 10 points for Albright, who shot 47.7 percent from the floor for the game, 33.3 percent from downtown, and 61.1 percent from the line.

Hall posted her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds while adding two steals for Keystone. Hodanich and Elysee netted seven points apiece with Hodanich pacing the Giants with three takeaways. Garrett netted five points while Maddy Moro (Danville, PA/Danville Area) blocked a pair of shots for the hosts, who shot 21.8 percent from the field, 20 percent from beyond the arc, and 50 percent from the stripe on the evening.

Keystone will look to close out the 2015 calendar year with a win on Saturday as the visit the College of Staten Island for a non-conference tilt starting at 6:00 p.m.
