Hackettstown, NJ – Keystone College's volleyball team opened Colonial States Athletic Conference play with a convincing, three-set sweep at Centenary College in the conference opener for both teams on Tuesday night. The Giants, who have now won four of their last five matches, improve to 6-2 overall with the victory while the Cyclones remain winless in seven contests.
Keystone won Tuesday's first game 25-15 before taking control of the match with a 25-12 win in set two. The Giants then closed out the victory with a 25-19 decision in the third game.
Keystone, who hit .304 as a team on the night, was paced by
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area)'s 11 kills.
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) put down six kills while
Ashley Williams (Virginia Beach, VA/Green Run) and
Shatia Silas (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) had four kills apiece in the win.
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) led all players with 19 assists and
Carol Mosier (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) handed out 11 helpers for the Giants.
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) collected a team-best 13 digs in the match while
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) served up three aces in the victory.
Vanessa McKellar led Centenary with eight kills while Ashley Bierbaum and Zoey Woody dished out six assists apiece. Na'imah Spells was credited with a match-high 14 digs while Bierbaum led all player with four service aces in the loss.
Keystone returns to the court on Friday evening when they host Cairn University in conference match in the Gambal Athletic Center. First serve against the Highlanders is set for 7:00 p.m. in La Plume.
