Giants Open CSAC Slate With Shutout Win at Immaculata, 3-0

Dempster scores a pair of goals to lead Giants

Immaculata, PA – Rebecca Dempster (Boonton, NJ/Boonton) scored a pair of goals and Genesis Pacheco (Mount Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) added a goal to lead Keystone College to a 3-0 victory at Immaculata University in the Colonial States Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday.  The Giants lift their record to 2-4 (1-0 CSAC) with their second straight victory while the Mighty Macs remain winless in nine contests (0-1 CSAC).
 
Pacheco opened the scoring just 5:18 into Saturday's contest by finding the back of the cage after taking a pass from Breanna Paulson (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood) to put the visitors in front.  Keystone doubled their lead in the ninth minute of the contest when Briana Sotiropoulos (Waterford, CT/Waterford) set up Dempster's first goal of the game.
 
Dempster made it a 3-0 game in the 34th minute with an unassisted goal.  The Giants would take the three-goal advantage into halftime while holding an 8-6 edge in shots over the first 35 minutes of play.
 
Neither team was able to find the back of the cage in the second half with Immaculata holding a slim, 12-11 edge in shots for the period.
 
Amy Denmon (Beaumont, PA/Lake-Lehman) notched her second straight shutout victory by making 10 saves on the day.  Christine McIntyre was charged with the loss after making one stop in the first 8:54 before being relieved by Sarah Pasternak made 10 saves in the final 61:06 for the Mighty Macs.
 
Keystone finished the game with a 19-18 edge in shots while both teams generated 10 penalty corners in the contest.
   
Keystone will host Elmira College in a non-conference game on Tuesday night starting at 7:00 p.m.
