Keystone Drops Regular Season Finale at Cabrini, Will Host CSAC Playoff Game Tuesday

Giants claim #4 seed and will host Neumann on Tuesday in first-ever home CSAC playoff game

Radnor, Pa. – Cabrini University scored a pair of second half goals to defeat visiting Keystone College 2-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon as the two teams wrapped up the regular season.  The Cavaliers improved to 10-6-1 overall and 6-3 in conference play while the Giants fall to 9-6-1 this fall and 6-3 in the CSAC.

Both teams will host first round CSAC playoff games next week with Cabrini securing the #3 seed and hosting #5 Gwynedd Mercy University on Tuesday while the Giants will be the #4 seed and will welcome #5 Neumann University to La Plume on Tuesday.  Keystone is hosting a CSAC playoff game for the first time in program history after finishing with a program-best 18 points in conference play this fall.

The game time for Keystone's first round matchup against Neumann is yet to be determined.

With playoff seeding on the line, neither team was able to break through in the opening 45 minutes of Saturday's contest.  Cabrini held a 7-2 advantage in shots in the first half, but did not place a shot on goal while Keystone's Abreham Kittel (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) had his effort in the 18th minute denied by Cavaliers' goalkeeper CJ Serratore in the only shot the either team placed on goal in the period.

A shot by Haris Sabovic (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) in the 55th minute was saved by Serratore and Cabrini broke through in the 64th minute when Bobby Kane scored the game's first goal off an assist from John Underwood to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.

The Cavaliers doubled their lead in the 72nd minute when AJ Bishop found the back of the net after taking a pass from Christopher Araujo.  The goal gave Cabrini a 2-0 edge and would stand as the final tally of the contest.

Serratore finished with four saves to pick up the win in goal while Steven Heintz, Jr. (Ardsley, Pa./Abington) made one stop in the loss for the Giants.

Cabrini held a 12-7 advantage in shots for the game, but Keystone held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.  The Cavaliers generated seven corner kick chances to three for the Giants, who were paced by Sabovic's three shot attempts in the loss.

Centenary University is the top seed next week's CSAC playoff tournament and earned a first round bye along with #2 Immaculata University.  Both teams will host semifinal matchups next Thursday against the winners of Tuesday's first round matchups.  The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday for the CSAC championship with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
