Phoenixville, Pa. – Keystone College extended its winning streak to seven matches with a 3-0 win at the University of Valley Forge on Wednesday evening as the Giants won in three sets for the sixth-straight contest. After dropping its four matches of the season, Keystone has lifted its record to 7-4 with its latest win while dropping the Patriots to 3-7.
The Giants opened the match with a 25-17 victory in the first before taking control of the contest with a convincing, 25-8 triumph in game two. Keystone then closed out the sweep with a 25-20 win in the third frame.
The Giants were paced offensively by
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area)'s 10 kills,
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) had seven kills, and
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) put down six kills as the visitors posted a .224 hitting percentage in the win. Hardy totaled four blocks on the night while Zuchowski added a pair of blocks.
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) led all players with 13 assists in the win while
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) put up 10 helpers on the night.
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) contributed match-highs of 19 digs and three service aces,
Maddie Roat (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) had 11 digs, and
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) picked up nine digs for Keystone.
Kaitlyn Hess led Valley Forge with four kills and six assists while Brittany Eberly (14), Megan Freed (12), and Karlee Kipe (11) all reached double-figures in digs in the loss.
Keystone will resume Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a league match at Immaculata University. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. in Immaculata, Pennsylvania.
