Atlanta, Ga. – Keystone College's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday on the final day of the Stormy Petrel Challenge hosted by Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. The Giants battled a pair of tight contests, but ultimately fell in three sets to both host Oglethorpe and to Piedmont College.
Following the day's action,
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) and
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances over the weekend.
Match 1 vs. Oglethorpe
In Saturday's first match against host Oglethorpe (2-1), the Stormy Petrels went ahead with a 25-22 win in the first set before building a two-games-to-none advantage with a 25-13 decision in game two. The hosts closed the closed out the sweep with a 25-17 decision in the third set.
Santreece Stephens led Oglethorpe with 15 kills and four blocks, Brianna Hernandez had 13 assists, Jordan Jones handed out 11 helpers, and Anna Rash picked up a match-high 15 digs for the Stormy Petrels, who posted a .209 hitting percentage in the victory.
Shannon Monahan (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) and Zuchowski had five kills apiece to pace Keystone's attack with Monahan adding a pair of blocks and Zuchowski picking up a team-best 13 digs the loss.
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) put down three kills while Heitman contributed three service aces and seven digs.
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) totaled eight assists in the match while
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) dished out seven assists.
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) chipped in nine digs to go along with a pair of aces against Ogelthorpe.
Match 2 vs. Piedmont
In Keystone's final match of the tournament against Piedmont (3-1), the Lions won a the first set, 25-21, before staking out a 2-0 advantage with a narrow, 25-23 victory in game two. The Giants continued to battle to the end, but ultimately were defeated as Piedmont closed out the match by posting a 25-19 win in the third set.
Katelyn Durmire paced Piedmont with seven kills and five blocks while Lainey Choiniere and Amanda Totter had four aces each. Choiniere had 10 assists to lead the Lions while Haley Hixon picked up a match-high 21 digs in the win.
Monahan and Zuchowski tied for a match-best with eight kills for Keystone while
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) chipped in with six kills. Heitman led the Giants with 17 digs and four aces while Homfeld added 16 digs and a pair of aces.
Binkley led all players with 23 assists while
Maddie Roat (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) contributed 10 digs in the loss to the Lions.

Keystone (0-4) will host a tri-match next Saturday afternoon with Wilkes University and Penn State Berks. The Giants will play the Colonels at 10:00 a.m. and the Nittany Lions at 2:00 p.m. in La Plume.
