Keystone Defeats Heidelberg 6-4 for Third Straight Win

Giants remain unbeaten on spring break trip with win over Student Princes

Port Charlotte, Fla. – Keystone College improved to 3-0 at the Snowbird Classic on Saturday with a 6-4 victory over Heidelberg University.  The Giants improve to 3-2 on the season with their third straight win while the Student Princes slip to 6-4 on the year.

Keystone took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning on Saturday as Ryan Callahan (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) hit a two-run single through the left side of the infield before Anthony Ferrezza (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) drove in Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) with a base hit to right field.

Heidelberg got a run back in the home sixth before tying the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning on a two-run triple off the bat of Darrin Shirk.

Brady Barr (Bowie, Md./Bowie) restored the Giants' lead with a  two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning.  The Student Princes got their deficit to 5-4 with an unearned run in the home half of the frame, but Keystone scored the game's final run in the visitor's ninth on a double-steal with Tony Hunter II (Savannah, Ga./South Effingham) taking second and Panzarella scoring.

Keystone starter Miguel Reyes (Bronx, N.Y./Monroe) took a no-decision after allowing one run on seven hits while striking out four batters in six innings of work.  Blake DeMeter (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) yielded a pair of runs before giving way to Yeison Andujar (San Juan, P.R./Programa Educativo Alcance), who picked up the win after going 2.2 innings on the hill with one run against on two hits while fanning two batters.
