Bats Power Baseball to Rout of Mount St. Mary

Giants score most runs in a game since 2015 in 20-2 win over Knights

Port Charlotte, Fla. – Keystone College's bats came alive on Wednesday night as the Giants rolled to a 20-2 victory over Mount St. Mary College at the Snowbird Classic in Florida.  Keystone, now winners of four of its last five games, improves to 4-3 overall on the season including a 4-1 mark on its spring break trip.

The 20 runs scored are the most by Keystone since a 20-10 victory over Neumann University in the CSAC championship game on May 9, 2015.

Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) went 4-5 with six RBI, Brendan Long (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) went 3-5 with three RBI and four runs scored, and Sebastian De La Cruz (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) was 3-4 at the dish with a pair of RBI and two runs scored to lead the Giants.  William De La Cruz (Washington Heights, N.Y./St. Raymonds) and Adrian Laro (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand St. Campus) added two hits apiece for Keystone, who pounded out 20 hits in the game.

Keystone jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on RBI hits from Sebastian De La Cruz (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis), Brady Barr (Bowie, Md./Bowie), and Panzarella followed by an RBI groundout by Tony Hunter II (Savannah, Ga./South Effingham).

The Giants pushed their lead to 7-0 in the second inning on another RBI base knock from Sebastian De La Cruz (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) followed by a two-run triple from Panzarella.

Mount St. Mary (2-8) got on the board with a bases-loaded walk in the top of the fourth inning, but Keystone countered with four runs on three hits and two errors in their half of the frame to claim an 11-1 advantage.

The onslaught continued the following inning as the Giants plated nine runs on seven hits and one error before the Knights scored the final run of the game the following inning on an RBI groundout.

Billy Nelson (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) earned his second win of the season after allowing one run on three hits while striking out three batters in four innings of work.  Dan Maguire (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) tossed a scoreless inning in relief before turning the ball over to Steven Moran (Yonkers, N.Y./Riverside) who yielded one run on two hits while fanning one in an inning of work.

Gerry Gonzalez (Manhattan, N.Y./Progress) struck out the side in the eighth inning before Jack Simons (Great Falls, Va./The Bullis School) finished out the game with a scoreless ninth inning with two K's and three hits against.

John Santana suffered the loss for Mount St. Mary after being charged with seven runs on eight hits in three innings on the hill before giving way to the bullpen as the Knights used three relievers the rest of the way.

Michael Doxey led Mount St. Mary with a pair of hits in the loss.

Keystone will be back in action on Thursday with a pair of games, taking on Marietta College at 11:00 a.m. followed by a game against Nichols College starting at 2:00 p.m.
