Mahwah, N.J. – Ramapo College scored a goal in each half on Saturday afternoon to defeat Keystone College 2-0 in a non-conference field hockey game. The win levels the Roadrunners' record at 4-4 while the Giants slide to 3-4 on the year.
Ramapo opened the scoring with 16:17 remaining in the first half of Saturday afternoon's contest as Melissa Choka tallied her fifth goal of the season for the Roadrunners to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
The Roadrunners held the one-goal edge at halftime along with a 5-3 advantage in shots over the first 35 minutes of play.
Ramapo pushed its lead to 2-0 just 3:29 into the second half when Ashley Lawson converted a penalty stroke for her first marker of the season.
Keystone was unable to find the back over the final 31 minutes despite attempting seven shots during that stretch.
Emily Wineski picked up the shutout win for Ramapo by making nine saves on the day.
Megan Novak (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) started in goal for the Giants and stopped four shots in 26:30 of action while
Emily Hawkins (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) turned aside three shots in 43:30 of play in the visitor's cage.
Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) attempted a game-high six shots in the loss while
Amy Llewellyn (Plains, Pa./Coughlin) was credited with two shots in the loss.
Both teams were credited with 10 shots in the contest with Keystone holding a 9-6 advantage in penalty corner chances.
Keystone will host King's College in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon starting at 4:00 p.m. on the turf field in La Plume.
