Glassboro, N.J. – Keystone College dropped a pair of non-conference volleyball match on the opening night of Rowan University's Profs Invitational on Friday night. The Giants (2-3) dropped a thrilling five-set match to the Red Devils in Friday's first contest before suffering a three-set defeat to the Bullets in the nightcap.
Match 1 vs. Dickinson
In Friday's opening match, Dickinson (4-1) jumped out to a 2-0 advantage with wins of 25-21 and 25-17 in the first two sets, but Keystone stormed back to force a decisive fifth set with 25-22 and 25-23 decisions in the third and fourth games, respectively.
The Red Devils would claim the match by the narrowest of margins, winning the fifth set 16-14 to avenge a five-set defeat suffered to the Giants last fall in La Plume.
Norma Jean Park (13), and Jamie Singer (11) had double-digit kills for Dickinson in the win while Kristin Allgaier dished out 34 assists. Tatiana Lopez picked up 16 digs for the Red Devils, who hit .142 as a team in the victory.
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) put down a match-best 15 kills for Keystone in the loss while
Nathalie Ortiz (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) tallied 13 kills.
Nicole Frascati (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) and
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) chipped in with eight kills apiece for the Giants, who posted a .164 hitting percentage in the contest.
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) led all players with 45 assists in the match while
Pamela Heitman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) totaled a match-best 21 digs.
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) (15), Bowen (10), and
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) (10) also reached double-figures for digs while Hardy led the way with three blocks.
Frascati, Heitman, and Homfeld each added a pair of service aces against Dickinson.
Match 2 vs. Gettysburg
In Friday's second match against Gettysburg (7-0) won the opening set 25-15 before take a 2-0 advantage with a 25-18 triumph in the second frame. The Bullets then closed out the match with a 25-11 decision in the third set.
Allie Stranick paced Gettysburg with eight kills while Maddie Weikert added six kills. Stephanie Blair put up 18 assists while Katherine Gilbert collected 18 digs for the Bullets, who hit .153 as a team in the win.
Beatty led the Giants with six kills while Frascati and Larkin added four kills apiece.
Bowen tied for a match-high with 18 assists to go along with 10 digs while Heitman led all players with 19 digs in the match.
Homfeld served up a pair of aces for Keystone in the loss to Gettysburg.

Keystone will play a pair of matches on Saturday to close out this weekend's tournament. The Giants will play host Rowan at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. match against Widener University.
