Keystone Rings in New Year With 55-37 Win Over Cedar Crest

Moore nets game-high 16 points while Moro adds a double-double for Giants

La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College rang in the New Year with a  55-37 victory over Cedar Crest College in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Wednesday afternoon in the Gambal Athletic Center.  The Giants lift their record to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play while snapping a four-game losing skid.    
 
Keystone used a 9-2 run over the final five minutes of the first quarter to hold a 14-4 advantage at the conclusion of the first 10 minutes of play on Wednesday after holding Cedar Crest (2-8, 1-2 CSAC) to just one field goal in the opening stanza.  Maddy Moro (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) netted seven points in the frame to give the Giants a 10-point cushion.
 
The hosts stretched their lead to 17-4 early in the second period, but the Falcons pushed back with a 12-3 surge to cut Keystone advantage to 20-16 at halftime.
 
Keystone came out strong in the second half, opening the third stanza with a 14-3 tear to open up a 34-19 advantage with 6:23 remaining in the period.  The Giants pushed their lead to as many as 19 points before Cedar Crest used a 7-0 spurt to pull to within 12 points at 41-29. 
 
Sydney Craig (Waterbury, Conn./W.F. Kaynor Technical) then converted a pair of free throws to give Keystone a 43-29 lead heading into the final frame. 
 
The Giants maintained a double-figure lead over the final 10 minutes of play, leading by as many as 18 points while closing out the victory.
 
Bre Moore (Charleston, W.Va./Pennwood) finished with a game-high 16 points while Moro totaled 14 points to go along with game-highs of 14 rebounds and five steals.  Craig and Autum Kitajima (Williamsport, Pa./Wellsboro Area) contributed eight points apiece with Kitajima tying for a game-best with three assists.
 
The Giants, who held a 45-35 advantage in rebounding for the day, shot 32.8 percent from the floor while going 20 percent from three-point range and 59.1 percent from the free throw line in the win.
 
Sylera Weller paced Cedar Crest with 14 points while Geminii Cabrera added 11 points on the afternoon.  The Falcons connected on 25 percent of their field goal attempts while going 36.4 percent from long range and 68.8 percent from the charity stripe in the loss.
 
Keystone will travel to Radnor, Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon to take on Cabrini University in a CSAC matchup starting at 1:00 p.m.
