Hlavaty Scores Twice in 6-2 Loss to Rosemont in CSAC Quarters

La PLUME, Pa. – Oct. 29, 2018 – Junior Kristen Hlavaty (Scott Twp., Pa./Lakeland) scored two goals in the first nine minutes of the game but the Keystone College women's soccer team could not hold off visiting Rosemont College on Monday night, falling 6-2 to the Ravens in the CSAC Quarterfinals.

The Giants' season comes to an end at 4-14-1 while Rosemont moves on to the CSAC Semifinals, improving to 6-11-0.

Hlavaty got the Giants on the board in the sixth minute, heading home a corner from junior Hayden Richner (Nicholson, Pa./Mountain View), for an early 1-0 lead. In the ninth minute, Hlavaty netted her second of the night and third of the year on another corner kick pass from sophomore Faith Shiffer (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove), to extend the Keystone advantage to 2-0.

However, the game took a huge momentum swing as the Keystone keeper was issued a red card in the 36th minute – putting the Giants a player down for the remainder of the match. Rosemont scored on the ensuing set piece direct kick right outside the 18, cutting into the Giant lead, 2-1.

The Ravens went on to score five unanswered goals in the 61st, 76th, 82nd, 84th and 86th minutes.

Richner and Hlavaty led the Keystone attack with three shots apiece. Freshman keeper Sara McCauley (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) made five stops after coming off the bench.
