Giants winning streak snapped by Centenary Wednesday evening at Gambal

Hodanich, Moro combine for 25 points and 17 rebounds

La Plume, Pa. –The Keystone College women's basketball team was looking to post its first three game-winning streak since 2015, but Centenary University had other plans.

Behind a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds from senior guard/forward Rachel Edwards and 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists from senior point-guard Amber Reisenwitz, the Cyclones downed the Giants, 51-41, in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Wednesday evening at the Gambal Athletic Center.

With the win, Centenary improved to 11-13 overall and 9-6 in the CSAC, while Keystone fell to 6-18 overall and 5-10 in league play.  Senior guard Nina Hodanich (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) led the Giants with 13 points and five rebounds and sophomore center Maddy Moro (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) posted her fifth straight and ninth overall 'double double' with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Offensively, Keystone struggled shooting the basketball, making just 28.9 percent of its field goal attempts.  The Giants shot only 20 percent in the second period and fell behind 32-20 by intermission.  It didn't get much better in the second half, either, as Keystone made just 3 of 11 field goal attempts in the third quarter and only 3 of 8 in the final stanza.

The Giants also turned the ball over 21 times, which the Cyclones converted into 19 points.  Centenary also held a 28-18 advantage in points in the paint.

Keystone will close out its 2018 season this Saturday, February 17, against the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland University at 1:00 p.m. in Gambal.  Prior to tip-off, Hodanich will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities.
