Giants drop 11-3 decision to 6th-ranked Wooster Monday

Terzi throws seven solid innings in a no-decision

Port Charlotte, Fla.—The College of Wooster took advantage of five errors to pull out an 11-3 victory over Keystone College Monday afternoon.

The Giants built up a 3-0 lead before the sixth-ranked Fighting Scots scored all 11 of their runs in the final three innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.  The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Keystone, now 3-5.

Junior Jacob Stuursma slammed a pair of doubles and drove in three runs and senior Jake Fling finished with two hits for Wooster, which took advantage of four errors by the Giants in the top of the eighth inning to ignite a five-run rally and break a 3-3 tie.

Despite the loss, the Giants received another solid pitching effort from senior Troy Terzi (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame), who went seven innings, struck out seven batters, allowed only two earned runs on five hits, and was pulled in the top of the eighth inning with the scored tied.

Junior Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) had two hits and scored a run and sophomores Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) and Ryan Callahan (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) each had a hit and drove in a run for Keystone, which will play Ohio Wesleyan this Thursday, March 15, at 11:00 p.m. in the fifth of an eight-game Spring Break trip.
