Terzi sparkles again as Giants down Arcadia, 9-4, Sunday for sixth straight win

Keystone now 9-5 after opening the season 0-3

La PLUME, Pa.—Senior pitcher Troy Terzi (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame) tossed another gem Sunday, leading Keystone College past Arcadia University, 9-4, in non-conference action at Christy Mathewson Field.

Terzi improved to 3-1 on the season by striking out seven and not allowing an earned run in eight innings as the Giants won their sixth straight game to improve to 9-5 on the season.   Of the 119 pitches he threw today, 84 were for strikes (71 percent).

Today's game was the fifth time in five appearances that Terzi has pitched at least seven innings.  He also lowered his earned run average to 1.44.

Terzi's job got a lot easier after the Giants jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings.

Keystone scored three runs in the first inning on RBI singles by juniors Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask) and Ronald Medina (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) and senior Bray Curreri (Eldred, N.Y./Eldred Central), then added another run in the second on another run-scoring single by McFadden, and added two more runs in the third on a two-run double by junior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant).

The Giants added three insurance runs in the eighth inning on a two-run single by Curreri and a sacrifice fly by Medina.  Overall, Keystone finished with 13 hits, including three each by McFadden and sophomore Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) and two apiece from Hussein and Curreri.

After allowing singles to Arcadia's Drew Coisson and Nick Cardace in the first inning, Terzi settled in and allowed just five hits the rest of the way.     He is now 12-1 in his career at Keystone, with 131 strikeouts in 138.1 innings of work.  His career earned run average is now 1.77.

Coisson, Bryan Gillien and Sean Carew finished with two hits apiece for Arcadia, which dropped its second straight game to fall to 10-4.

The Giants will return to action this Tuesday, March 27, against Rutgers-Newark in New Jersey beginning at 3:30 p.m.
