Curreri, Terzi lead Giants past Gwynedd Mercy, 17-7, to advance to CSAC championship game Saturday

Keystone one win away from its 10th straight CSAC title

WEST LAWN, Pa.—Keystone College is now one win away from its tenth straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III championships, thanks to the efforts of seniors Bray Curreri (Eldred, N.Y./Eldred Central) and Troy Terzi (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame).

Curreri finished with four hits and drove in five runs and Terzi struck out seven batters in 6.2 innings of work to lead the Giants to a convincing 17-7 victory over second-seeded Gwynedd Mercy University Friday morning at Owls Field at Ted Palka Park.

Keystone, now 31-9, finished with 17 hits, including four from junior Johann Paniagua (Bronx, NY/James Monroe Campus High School), three from junior Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask), and two each from juniors Ronald Medina (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) and Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area).  The Giants jumped out to a 13-1 lead before the Griffins, now 19-13, rallied for six runs in the seventh inning to slice the lead to six.  Keystone then added three insurance runs in the bottom half of the frame to put the game out of reach.

Terzi scattered nine hits to pick up his ninth win of the season and the 18th of his career.

With four hits today, Curreri and Paniagua improved their batting averages to .298 and .293, respectively.

Shaughn Wright, Josh Lopez, and Tommy Nardini paced Gwynedd Mercy's 13-hit attack with two hits apiece.  Defensively, however, the Griffins committed two costly errors that led to six unearned runs.

Gwynedd Mercy will return to action this evening to take on the winner of #3 Neumann-#4 Cabrini at 7:00 p.m.
