Walters & Zuniga Score in 3-2 Double OT Loss at Cairn




LANGHORNE, Pa. -
The Keystone College men's soccer team fell at host Cairn University 3-2 in double overtime on Saturday afternoon in CSAC play.
  • With the defeat, the Giants are now 6-4-1 (1-1-0 CSAC) and will return home to host Bryn Athyn College on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
  • The Highlanders improve to 6-4-1 (2-0-0 CSAC).
  • Junior Jaylen Walters (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) opened the scoring in the 26th minute to give the Giants a 1-0 lead.
  • Cairn responded as Josiah Nistorenko netted his 1st of the day in the 31st minute to knot the match at 1-1.
  • Senior Daniel Zuniga (Lakeland, Fla./McKeel Academy) tallied the go-ahead goal in the 68th minute - thanks to an assist from senior Oscar Angel-Velasquez (Bridgeville, Del./Sussex Technical) - as Keystone went up 2-1.
  • Nistorenko converted a penalty kick in the 71st minute to tie the game at 2-2.
  • In the 2nd overtime, Nistorenko found the back of the net in the 105th minute, to complete the hat trick for the game winner.
  • Overall, Keystone outshot Cairn 19-6, as freshman Emmanuel Onwubiko (Newtown Square, Pa./Upper Darby) led the way off the bench with 7 shots. Zuniga tallied 3 shots while Walters and freshman Willy Nduwayo (Amarillo, Tex./Palo Duro) tallied 2.
  • Sophomore keeper Erick Gomez (Marrero, La./John Ehret) made 1 stop on the day.
