Men’s Basketball Enjoys 102-99 OT Win Over York (N.Y.)





La PLUME, Pa. –
The Keystone College men's basketball team held off visiting York College of New York on Saturday, defeating the Cardinals 102-99 in overtime in the Giants' home opener.
  • Junior guard Tone Cockrell (Upper Marlboro, Md./Landon School) hit the game-tying shot as time expired to knot the contest at 88-all to force the extra session.
  • Keystone (2-3) outscored York (2-3) 14-11 in overtime.
  • Cockrell finished with a game-high 29 points, behind 9-of-17 shooting, going 5-of-7 from deep and 6-of-9 from the foul line.
  • The junior also notched 7 rebounds & 7 assists in the win.
  • Freshman Malik Hudges (Newark, N.J./Lewisburg) followed with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks & 2 assists.
  • Freshman Marcus Bauman (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) tallied 15 points & 7 rebounds while junior Jeremy Jordan (Portsmouth, Va./I.C. Norcom) & senior Ray Mills (Philadelphia, Pa./Overbrook) each dropped 14 points.
  • Keystone jumped out to a 14-point lead (39-25) with 2:34 to play in the 1st half.
  • The Cardinals opened up the 2nd half on a 15-7 tear to knot the game up at 51-51.
  • York led by as many as 6 points at 4:55 in the 2nd half before Keystone clawed back to tie the contest.
  • The Giants will remain at home to host Marywood University on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 6:05 p.m.
  • The game will be televised locally on WQMY-TV & Fox 56 Sports.
