Baseball Enjoys 16-7 CSAC Opening Win at Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - Senior Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask) drove in five runs, freshman Devin Reed (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) tallied four hits, senior Johann Paniagua (Bronx, NY/James Monroe Campus High School) finished with three doubles and junior Jared Rowley (Dover, Del./Dover) struck out 14 as the Keystone College baseball team defeated Centenary University (N.J.) 16-7 in the CSAC opener for both squads on Friday afternoon at Diamond Nation.

With the win, Keystone improves to 6-8 (1-0 CSAC) and the Giants host Centenary tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. The Cyclones drop to 7-12 (0-1 CSAC).

The Giants tallied 16 hits and took advantage of four Cyclone errors on the day.

McFadden finished 3-for-6 with five RBI, one double and a three-run homer to left center in the top of the second. Reed went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and an RBI at the leadoff spot.

Paniagua went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs while junior Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Seniors Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant) and Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) combined to go 3-for-9 with five runs as Hussein connected for a solo homer to left in the sixth.

Junior Ryan Callahan (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) went 1-for-5 with two runs scored.

On the hill, Rowley earned the start and the win, going six innings while striking out 14 Cyclones. Rowley's 14 K's is the sixth-most in single game program history, as Troy Terzi (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame) also fanned 14 vs. Marietta back on March 16, 2017.

Senior Wandy Brito (Reading, Pa./Reading) and junior Matt Tarabola (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) both appeared out of the bullpen and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits.
