Men’s Soccer Falls to Washington (Md.) 2-1 in 2 OT

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Keystone College men's soccer team fell to host Washington College 2-1 in double overtime in the title game of the Athey Cup on Saturday.
  • The Giants move to 1-1-0 on the year and will head to Penn College on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
  • Sophomore MarDayus Bothwell (Gadsden, Ala./Gadsden City) notched the team's lone goal in the 29th minute.
  • The Shoremen answered with the equalizer in the 32nd minute.
  • Following a scoreless 2nd half and 1st overtime, Washington scored the game-winner just 33 seconds into double overtime.
  • Bothwell and senior Ibrahim Tounkara (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) led the attack with two shots each.
  • The Giants finished with 10 shots.
  • Sophomore keeper Erick Gomez (Marrero, La./John Ehret) made eight saves and faced 10 shots on target.
  • Following the conclusion of the tournament, senior Andrew Lupinacci (Stratford, N.J./Sterling), junior Jaylen Walters (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) and Gomez were named to the All-Tournament Team.
