Football Week 9 Preview: Alfred State

La PLUME, Pa. - The Keystone College football team will host Alfred State College on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. in the final home game of 2021 for the Giants.

  • Keystone will enter Saturday at 0-8 (0-4 ECFC) while the Pioneers are 3-4 (2-1 ECFC).

Coverage

Offense

  • Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) and Kevin Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) have combined for 11 TDs and 735 yards on the ground, with Muhammad's 64.4 ypg ranking 3rd in the ECFC.

  • Five receivers have double-digit catches as Jorden Cook (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz), Javier Tazza (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) and Chad Jones (Bear, Del./Alexis I. DuPont) all have 19 receptions, combining for 761 yards and four TDs.

  • Tom Roach (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) has thrown for 1,059 yards and five scores this season.

Defense

  • Sean Tocci (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) and Jerell Springer (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) lead the defensive unit with a combined 109 total tackles.

  • Maxwell Johnson (Wilmington, Del./St. Thomas Aquinas College) leads the team with two sacks while four different Giants have picked off opposing quarterbacks.

Special Teams

  • Josue Hernandez (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) is 17-of-17 on PATs this year.

  • Zac Cost (Dalton, Pa./) has 32 punts for 990 yards (30.9 avg) with two inside the 20-yard line.

Alfred State Pioneers (3-4, 2-1 ECFC)

  • The Pioneers are coming off a 24-21 road win at Gallaudet, breaking the Bison's five-game winning streak.

  • Aaron Jenkins threw for 223 yards and two TDs while rushing for another.

  • Dawson Fontaine tallied the game-winning 18-yard field goal with 1:25 in regulation.

  • Roman Napoleon hauled in six catches for 132 yards and one TD while Ben Ba enjoyed one TD reception.

  • Jenkins is the team's leading passer (1,486 yards, 10 TDs) and leading rusher (567 yards, 8 TDs), ranking in the ECFC top three in both categories.

  • Napoleon, Ba, and Shy'rel Broadwater have combined for 1,268 receiving yards and 10 TDs.

  • Joel Smith and Silas Egenlauf lead the Pioneers' defense with 114 total tackles.

  • The inaugural 2021 campaign concludes next week for Keystone as the Giants travel to SUNY Maritime on Saturday, Nov. 6 for a 1 p.m. kickoff. 

  • The Pioneers host Castleton University on Nov. 6 at 12 p.m.
