Overtime Heartbreaker Ends Giants Season

La PLUME, Pa. – It's the end of the road on Keystone field hockey's season as the Giants fell to visiting Cedar Crest, 3-2, in overtime of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships semifinal round.

The Giants faced a 2-0 deficit entering the second half, but goals from Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Aregentina/San Vicente de Paul) in the 39th minute and Julianna Santiago (Allentown, Pa./Louis E. Dieruff) in the 55th minute evened the score through regulation to send the game into overtime.

Cedar Crest scored the game winner in the 65th minute via Amber Cieri assisted by Lauren Jackson.

Wednesday's match marked Keystone's ninth CSAC Championships playoffs appearance. 

Standout Performers
  • Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) was credited with five defensive saves while Taylor Cercone (Dallas, Pa./Lake Lehman) had two.
  • Casey Stratton (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) tallied her second-best outing of the season with 11 saves.
  • Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Aregentina/San Vicente de Paul) returned to the lineup after a two-game absence and put in the Giants' first score off a penalty shot in the 39th minute.

  • The Falcons out shot the Giants, 25-17, with a 22-11 shots-on-goal advantage.
