Giants Fall at Maritime 24-21 to Conclude Inaugural 2021 Season

Muhammad Rushed for 173 yards & 2 TDs

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The Keystone College football team fell at Maritime College 24-21 on a field goal as time expired to wrap up the 2021 season on Saturday in ECFC action at Reinhart Field.

  • The Giants end their inaugural NCAA campaign at 0-10 (0-6 ECFC) while the Privateers improve to 3-5 (3-2 ECFC).
  • Maritime will play at Anna Maria College on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m.
Standout Performers
  • Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) rushed for a game-high and career-high 173 yards on 24 carries, averaging 7.2 yards per rush.
  • Muhammad enjoyed a 70-yard rushing TD to open the scoring in the first quarter and tacked on a 14-yard score in the third. His 70-yard score is the longest in the ECFC this year.
  • Muhammad's 173 yards is one yard better than his performance at Gallaudet on Oct. 9 (172 yards). This is his third 100+ rushing performance of the season.
  • Noah Hulslander (Fawn Grave, Pa./Kennard-Dale) threw for 135 yards and one score, connecting with Zac Cost (Dalton, Pa./Lycoming College) on a 27-yard TD in the third. 
  • Jorden Cook (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) hauled in one catch for 69 yards while Angel Rodriguez (Islip, N.Y./Islip) tallied one reception for 38 yards from Donald Leach. 
  • Kevin Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) notched 39 rushing yards and two catches out of the backfield.
  • Defensively, Carlos Perez (Reading, Pa./Reading) and Jamir Spencer-Smith (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City) led the way with 18 combined tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Elijah Washington (Lawrence, N.Y./Lawrence), Quentin Tibbs (New Brunswick, N.J./New Brunswick) and Maxwell Johnson (Wilmington, Del./St. Thomas Aquinas College) totaled 17 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
  • Tyshaun McClain (Jersey City, N.J./Erie Community College) tallied four tackles and two pass breakups while Dontez Crawford (Baltimore, Md./Pennsauken) enjoyed one interception. Michael Cora (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) recovered a fumble and returned it 22 yards.
  • For Maritime, Christian Schiavone rushed for 141 yards and two TDs. Sean Hart had a 50-yard fumble recovery for a TD before halftime.
  • Joseph Gagliardi hit the game-winning 21-yard field goal as time expired.

  • The Giants trailed 14-7 at halftime before tying the contest at 21-21 in the third.
