Baseball Sweeps Centenary in CSAC Twinbill

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Keystone College baseball team swept host Centenary University on Saturday in a CSAC doubleheader, winning the opener 10-7, followed by a 9-7 nightcap victory.
Keystone (5-1, 3-1 CSAC) will prepare to host PSU Harrisburg on Thursday, April 1 in a non-conference DH at 12 pm. Centenary (2-3, 2-2 CSAC) takes on St. Elizabeth on Wednesday, March 31.
 
Game 1: Keystone 10, Centenary 7
  • The Giants trailed 2-0 after the 1st and 6-3 after the 5th but battled back for the opening victory.
  • Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) finished 2-for-5 with two RBI, including a double and the go-ahead solo homer in the top of the 9th.
  • Pedro Abreu (Bronx, N.Y./Santa Teresa) collected two hits and an RBI while Jared Davis (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) went 2-for-4 with a two-run double to center in the 6th.
  • RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) and Devin Reed (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) both drove in one run while Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) collected a double.
  • Jared Rowley (Dover, Del./Dover) earned the start and tossed 4.2 innings with four strikeouts and two walks on 88 pitches.
  • Matt Tarabola (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee), Decker Quintana (Ogden, Utah.), and Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y.) appeared in relief, as Gravel tossed three innings with three punchouts, earning the win.
  • For the Cyclones, Jon Fleck, Brandon Smith, and Nicholas Grifone combined to go 8-for-14 with four RBI.
Game 2: Keystone 9, Centenary 7
  • The Giants tallied three runs in the 2nd, four in the 4th, and added two more in the 7th.
  • Keystone jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the 4th.
  • Noah Ruiz (Newark, N.J.) tallied a two-run single and later scored on a wild pitch.
  • Davis followed with another run on a wild pitch while Carlini and Larry Sims (Winona, MISS.) both tallied an RBI.
  • Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) finished 3-for-4 with two RBI while Ruiz went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs.
  • Reed drove home two runs and drew two walks.
  • Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned the start and the victory, tossing six innings, allowing eight hits while striking out two.
  • Sean Perry (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) and Ross Zanghi (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) both appeared in relief.
