TRENTON, N.J. – The Keystone College baseball team enjoyed a CSAC doubleheader sweep over Cairn University on Saturday afternoon.
- The Giants improve to 10-3 (5-1 CSAC) and will host Moravian College on Wednesday, April 14 at 3:30 pm.
- The Highlanders drop to 5-7 (2-4 CSAC) and will travel to Clarks Summit University on Saturday, April 17.
Game One: Keystone 15, Cairn 6
- Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) continued his hot hitting, going 5-for-5 with 4 RBI and 5 runs, including 2 doubles & a 2-run bomb in the 3rd.
- Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) went 3-for-6 with 3 runs & a double while Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) finished 3-for-6 with 4 RBI.
- Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) returned with a 2-for-4 day and 2 RBI.
- Pedro Abreu (Bronx, N.Y./Santa Teresa), Larry Sims (Winona, MISS.), and Luis Francisco (Laceyville, PA.) all collected base knocks.
- On the hill, Jared Rowley (Dover, Del./Dover) earned the win, tossing 7 innings with 10 punchouts, while allowing just 2 earned runs and 1 walk.
- Carlos Benoit (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Ross Zanghi (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) appeared in relief.
Game Two: Keystone 6, Cairn 1
- Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) tossed all 9 innings for the complete game, scattering 5 hits while striking out 6.
- The righty forced 11 flyouts & 8 groundouts.
- Kelly went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI while RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) went 1-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.
- Abreu, Carlini, and Sims all collected base hits.
- Keystone tallied 7 hits on the day & exploded for a 6-run 3rd inning.
