Giants Outscore NDM 42-4 in DH Sweep

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College softball team swept visiting Notre Dame of Maryland in a CSAC doubleheader on Wednesday, outscoring the Gators 42-4 in the twinbill.
 
  • The Giants improve to 7-3 (7-1 CSAC) and will head to Valley Forge on Saturday, April 17.
  • The Gators fall to 1-3 (1-3 CSAC) and will travel to Cairn on Friday, April 16.
 
Game One: Keystone 20, NDM 2 (5 innings)
 
  • KC enjoyed 18 hits in the opener, as Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) & Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) combined for 6 hits, 7 RBI & 4 runs.
  • Erin Dunn (Harveys Lake, Pa./Tunkhannock), Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North), Ashten Staton (Deposit, NY /Deposit) & Elle Olivero (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) all had 2 hits.
  • Booth finished with 3 RBI while Staton & Olivero combined for 4 RBI.
  • The Giants hit 5 triples & 5 doubles.
  • Maddy Fernandes earned the win, striking out 7 while allowing 0 earned runs.
 
Game Two: Keystone 22, NDM 2 (5 innings)
 
  • Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) finished 3-for-3 with 3 RBI & 4 runs while Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) drove in 5 runs.
  • Lauryn Rodriguez (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) enjoyed a 3-run homer in the 2nd.
  • Mokychic, Lloyd & Rodriguez combined to drive in 11 runs.
  • Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) & Kylee Kerstetter (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) drew 3 walks each.
  • Kerstetter earned the victory, punching out 7 while scattering 7 hits.
