Keystone Baseball Captures 2021 CSAC Championship





La PLUME, Pa. –
The Keystone College baseball team captured the 2021 CSAC Championship with Saturday's 12-4 win over visiting Wilson College – the program's 16th-consecutive program title.
 
  • With the victory, the Giants improve to 21-4 on the year and earn the CSAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
  • The bracket will be announced on Sunday, May 23.
  • The Phoenix end the season at 21-6.
  • Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) was named the Tournament MVP after going 4-for-8 in the series with 2 homers, 5 RBI & 5 runs scored.
  • Wilson jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st before Kelly tallied the game-tying homer to left field, knotting the game at 3-3 in the 3rd.
  • In the 5th, Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic) notched the go-ahead RBI double and Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) followed with an RBI single in the 7th to give KC a 5-3 edge.
  • Wilson crept to within a run, 5-4, in the 8th, before the Giants' bats came alive, scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 8th.
  • Acosta, Hadsall, Kelly & RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) all came through with hits to give KC some breathing room.
  • Hadsall finished the game 4-for-5 with 2 RBI & 2 runs while Acosta went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
  • Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) collected an RBI double while Larry Sims (Winona, MISS.), Seth Brizel (Tamarac, Fla./J.P. Taravella) & Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) all enjoyed base knocks.
  • Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned the win – his 6th of the season – as the righty hurled 7 innings, allowing 1 earned run while striking out 6.
  • Hinkley threw 108 pitches and forced 7 flyouts & 4 groundouts.
  • Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y.) appeared in relief, as Gravel got Wilson to line out to Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) to end the game.
