Field Hockey Opens Conference Play with win over Cedar Crest

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College field hockey team kicked off conference with a 3-1 victory over visiting Cedar Crest College Thursday evening.

Standout Performers

  • Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) scored the first goal for Keystone around the five-minute mark of the first quarter.
  • Two Giants found the back of the cage in the second quarter as Courtney Dwyer (Scranton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) and Julianna Santiago (Allentown, PA./Louis E. Dieruff) both scored for the home team.
  • Dwyer and Santiago each had one assist.
  • Sophomore goalkeepers Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) and Casey Stratton (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) both had five saves on the night.
  • Senior defender Karley Cresswell (Lake Winola, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) had two defensive saves.

Keystone outshot Cedar Crest 20-13. The Giants had 16 shots on goal.  They also edged the Falcons in penalty corners (12-11). Two green cards were distributed to Cedar Crest.
 
What's Next
The Giants move to 6-4 (1-0 CSAC). They will continue conference play as they head to Baltimore, MD for a 1 p.m. matchup with Notre Dame of Maryland University on October 2.
