LA PLUME, Pa.- Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) scored four goals as the Keystone College field hockey team blanks Cedar Crest 7-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Keystone College Turf Field. With the win, Keystone moves on to the CSAC Championship and improve their record to 9-8. Cedar Crest ends the year at 8-9.
Mainero tallied two second and third quarter goals as well as having an assist on the day. Maria Belen Rodriguez-Molina (Caballito, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Santa Brígida) scored one goal and had two assists. Jordan Vandermark (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) scored the first goal of the semifinal match as well as having an assist. Miranda masicia also contributed with an assist. Mercedes Goodwin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) scored her first collegiate goal in the last 40 seconds of the match. Casey Stratton (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) both appeared in goal with Osbahr making two saves.
The Giants outshot the Falcons 24-3, and had a 10-6 advantage on penalty corners. Mainero led Keystone in shots with eight.
Keystone will play #1 Wilson College in the CSAC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5 with a time to be determined.
