Softball Splits to End Spring Break

Keystone is now 5-3 on the season.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Keystone College softball team ended its spring break trip with a split on Friday, falling to Medaille College 8-0 in six innings before defeating SUNY Poly, 9-6.

The Giants are now 5-3 and will head back north to Pennsylvania, playing at the University of Scranton (5-4) on Tuesday, March 22. Medaille improves to 9-1 while SUNY Poly drops to 2-7.

Game One: Medaille 8, Keystone 0 (6 innings)

The Giants finished with four hits against the Mavericks, as Alyssa Booth (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) went 2-for-3. Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) and Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) provided base knocks.

Jordan Frye (Cheltenham, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) and Amber Stansfield (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) combined for four strikeouts in the circle.

Game Two: Keystone 9, SUNY Poly 6

Keystone scored seven runs in the top of the fourth and enjoyed 17 hits to defeat the Wildcats.

Four players finished with three hits - Lexy Johnson (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy), Courtney Cienki (West Milford, N.J./West Milford), Booth, and Frye.

Staple and Paige Mokychic (Beaumont, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) combined for five RBI.

Cienki earned the victory, striking out two while forcing five flyouts and 11 groundouts.
