VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference is proud to announce the hiring of Antonio "Tone" Cockrell as the conference's new Assistant Commissioner of Strategic Initiatives. Cockrell will assume his duties on August 1, 2022. The position is funded via the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant for the next two years.
"We are excited to provide this opportunity to one of the CSAC's own former student-athletes," said CSAC Commissioner Marie Stroman. "With a strong knowledge of the conference's mission and values, Tone portrayed in the interview process a passion to push the conference forward. His unique set of skills and experiences will be a huge asset to the conference staff."
Cockrell is no stranger to the CSAC, as he was a student-athlete at Keystone College. A member of the men's basketball team, Cockrell was a 1,000-point scorer and a multiple All-CSAC selection including a first-team selection during the 2019-2020 and 2021-22 seasons.
Away from the court, he received the Business Award for Academic Excellence from Keystone in Spring 2021, while graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2021 with a 3.9 GPA majoring in Business with an Economics minor. He earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in men's basketball during the 2019-20 season.
Since August 2021, Cockrell has been serving as a graduate assistant admissions counselor at Keystone, while finishing up his MBA.
As part of his duties in the CSAC, Cockrell will assist in the day-to-day operation of the conference, contributing to strategic planning, athletics communications, championships, and governance.
