CSAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS FOR JANUARY 9, 2023

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced its Players of the Week for January 9, 2023. This includes Players of the Week in Men's and Women's Basketball as well as Honor Roll selections in each sport.

This week's selections included contests from Tuesday, January 4 through Sunday, January 8. A total of 29 student-athletes were recognized for their performances.

Men's Basketball
Offensive Player of the Week
Jamal Cannady Jr. | So. | Bryn Athyn College | F | East Baltimore, MD./Dunbar HS
Cannady Jr. averaged 30 points a game, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2.5 steals in the opening week of conference play including 34 points 6 rebounds and 3 steals against Clarks Summit in a 106-90 win. Cannady Jr. is the current CSAC leader in points per game (24.3) and total points (292).  Cannady Jr. is currently 6th in NCAA Division III in scoring and is number one in free throws made and attempted in Division III.  
 
Defensive Player of the Week
D'Angelo Blackmond | Jr. | Saint Elizabeth University | F | Orange, NJ /Orange HS
Blackmond averaged 10.7 rebounds while totaling 6 steals and 4 blocks over a 3-game week.  Currently averaging a double-double on the season (16.4 points, 10.3 rebounds), Blackmond is the second in the CSAC for rebounds per game (10.3) and total offensive rebounds (38).  This is the third CSAC Player of the Week honor for Blackmond who also was named CSAC Rookie of the Year in the 2019-2020 season while competing for Centenary University.
 
Honor Roll
Cairn's Derian Bradford averaged 17.5 points and Dashaun Cain lead the defensive side of the ball as the Highlanders went 2-0 on the week.…Clarks Summit's Kelvin Chest averaged 18.5 points and 6 rebounds while Hunter Plantz averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds on the week…Keystone's Jack Anderson (Davie, Fla./Western) averaged 25 points and 8 rebounds, including 30 points against Wilson on Wednesday. Pete Laidley (Miramar, Fla./Pembroke Pines Charter) had 4 blocks, 2 steals and totaled 10 rebounds while averaging 15.5 points…Rosemont's Nick Strain shot 61% from the field (11-18) including 9-11 on three-pointers while Mitchell Zaire averaged 17.5 points and 7 rebounds for the Ravens…Saint Elizabeth's Pierre Harden averaged 19 points on 52.2% shooting…Wilson's Gary Robertson averaged 18 points on 61% shooting and was 11-13 from the line while playing all 80 minutes. Darryl Garib averaged 18.5 points and 11 rebounds…
 
Women's Basketball
Offensive Player of the Week
Elizabeth Singleton | Gr. | Clarks Summit University | F | Schenectady, N.Y. /Mekeel Christian Academy
Singleton averaged 25 points per game, 14 rebounds per game, 7 assists, 2 steals, and a block as the Defenders went 2-0 on the week.  Against Bryn Athyn on Thursday, Singleton went 6-7 from the three-point line.  Last season's CSAC Player of the Year and Jostens Trophy Finalist, Singleton is the current leader in points per game (23.4), rebounds per game (10.7), and field goal percentage (.497). This is the fifth CSAC Player of the Week honor for Singleton.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Daija Fitchett | Gr. | Notre Dame of Maryland University | F | Baltimore, MD /Towson HS
Fitchett recorded two double-doubles in the Gators three wins averaging 16.7 points per game and 14.7 rebounds per game helping the Gators improve to 6-0 in CSAC Play. This weekend, Fitchett moved into second place in career rebounds (957) for NDMU and 10th in program history in points (974). This is Fitchett's sixth time being named CSAC Player of the Week on top of a CSAC Defensive Player of the Year award in the 2019-2020 and 2021-2022 seasons.

Honor Roll
Bryn Athyn's Kearah Henry averaged 12 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.3 steals while Reilly Ward averaged 12.6 points and totaled 8 three-pointers as the Lions went 2-1 this week …Cairn's Tamia Warner had three more double-doubles, running the season total to five, while averaging 14.6 points and 11.3 rebounds on the week. Taylor Hinson picked up the sixth double-double of the season as well as the sixth 20+ point game of the season…Cedar Crest's Ashley Wilson became the Falcons career leader in three-pointers made (127) while averaging 20.5 points on the week. Morgan Ritchie had a career-high 14 points on 6-9 shooting against Wilson…Keystone's Kyleigh Monk (Havre de Grace, Md./John Carroll School) averaged 10 points per game shooting 54.2% from the field while Izzy Rosario (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) picked up nine steals this week…Notre Dame of Maryland's Kori People helped the Gators to a 3-0 week averaging 10.3 points and 6 rebounds…Rosemont's Kalaia Hampton picked up 11 total steals while averaging 16.3 points and Angel Ricks averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds over three games for the Ravens…Saint Elizabeth's Destiny Battle had a triple-double vs. Cedar Crest (13pt, 10reb, 10asst) while averaging 15.6 points and 8.67 rebounds on the week…Wilson's Adrianna Stricek helped the Phoenix go 3-0 on the week with three double-doubles averaging 14 points and 11.3 rebounds. Samira Murphy scored double-figures in all three games: leading the scoring with 18 points against Cedar Crest and Keystone.
