Football Week Nine Preview: Catholic

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College football team is gearing up for their final home game of the 2023 campaign as they face Catholic University on Senior Day this Saturday, Oct. 28 at 12 p.m.  

Keystone 

Keystone (1-7, 0-4 Landmark) suffered a 34-7 loss to Lycoming College last Saturday.  

Donald Leach III (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) threw for 216 yards with one interception. Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) rushed for 48 yards with one score. Jayson Nami (Freehold Township, N.J./Freehold Township) led the Keystone receiving core with 80 receiving yards.  

Defensively, Joshua Orozco (Reading, Pa./Reading) led Keystone with 11 total tackles which include 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack. Quentin Tibbs (New Brunswick, N.J./New Brunswick) and Nicholas Defrancesco combined for 13 tackles.  

Ethan Schlief (Penns Creek, Pa./Midd-West) punted four times for 178 yards in the previous matchup. He averaged close to 45 yards a punt with his longest punt going for 57 yards.  

Catholic 

Catholic (2-5, 0-3 Landmark) are coming off their bye week. The Cardinals suffered a tough 28-25 defeat to Lycoming two weeks ago.  

In that game, Nico Casares completed 45 passes for 399 yards with three touchdowns and a pick. Preston Jeffery paced the Cardinals receiving core with 159 receving yards and a touchdown.  

On the defensive side, Luke Brautigan recorded 10 total tackles. Tyler Donnelly recorded an interception and broke up two passes.  

Connor Gill was busy punting as he finished the game with seven punts for 296 yards. Three of his punts landed inside the opponents 20-yard line. The senior punter averaged 43 yards a punt.  

What's Next 

Keystone heads to Juniata College next Saturday, Nov. 4 for their 2023 season finale. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
