Field Hockey Crowned United East Conference Champions

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College field hockey team captured the 2023 United East Conference Championship with a 3-0 win over Cedar Crest College Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Keystone moves to 11-5 and have earned the United East's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Cedar Crest finishes their season at 6-13.

This is team's second conference title in program history and their first as members of the United East Conference.

Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) earned United East Conference Tournament MVP honors as she scored one goal and added an assist. Throughout the conference tournament, Tomada recorded five goals and two assists.

Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) also provided one goal and assist. Belen Rodriguez (Caballito, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Santa Brígida) tallied an early second quarter goal while Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) and Gabby Lodato (Union, N.J./Union) combined for three assists.

Cedar Crest's goalkeeper Kadee Schrader made eight saves in the defeat.

The Giants recorded 18 shots and 14 penalty corners in the conference final.

Keystone will find out where they are heading in the NCAA Tournament tomorrow night with the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Selection Show beginning at 10:30 p.m.
