MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Keystone College baseball team concluded its brief trip to the Ripken Experience with a 7-1 defeat at the hands of the University of Mary Washington on Sunday.
The Giants (0-4) will prepare for their lengthy Spring Break trip in Florida from March 13-20. The Eagles improve to 9-5 on the year.
UMW jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the fourth and claimed a 7-0 lead after the seventh.Â
Keystone finished with nine hits on the day, as Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the ninth. Robert Estrada (Jersey City, N.J./Ferris), Anthony Raimo (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman), Luis Villalba (Carolina, P.R./Vestavia Hills) and Wynston Dyer (Columbia, S.C./Spring Valley) all provided base knocks.
Kyle Brittain (Lincolnton, N.C./North Lincoln) and Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) came through with pinch-hit singles in the ninth.
Brayan Villar (West Orange, N.J./Belleville) started the contest and tossed four innings with four strikeouts, five groundouts and two flyouts. Anthony Mierez (Granby, Conn./Rockville), Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), and Nick Termini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) all appeared in relief.
For UMW, Xavier Herring went 3-for-4 with two runs.Â
