PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. - The Keystone College baseball swept the University of Valley Forge in a three-game series this weekend, capping off Sunday with an 11-5 win followed by a 15-2 victory.
The Giants are now 16-10 (9-0 CSAC) and will host Susquehanna on Tuesday before a weekend series with Wilson from April 21-22. The Patriots drop to 11-16 (3-9 CSAC).
Game One: Keystone 11, UVF 5
The Giants scored three in the first and four in the fifth, outhitting UVF 14-6.
Josh Parks (Maple Valley, Wash./Tahoma) finished 3-for-3 with a three-run homer in the fifth. Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) drove in two runs while Anthony Raimo (Albany, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), Giovanni Diaz (Bronx, N.Y./Christopher Columbus), and Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic) collected two hits each.
Anthony Mierez (Granby, Conn./Rockville) started and struck out two while Cam Hale (Covington, Wash./Kentridge) and Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) appeared in relief, combining for five punchouts.
Game Two: Keystone 15, UVF 2
Keystone limited the Patriots to just two hits and enjoyed an eight-run first inning to start off the nightcap.
Jason Thomas (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman) enjoyed a 4-for-5 day at leadoff, scoring three runs with two RBI. Luis Villalba (Carolina, P.R./Vestavia Hills) went 3-for-4 with three RBI while Yastremski also turned in a 3-for-4 day. Parks and Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) collected two hits.
Yastremski started an struck out three while Slothing Che (Santo Domingo, D.R./Instituto Tecnologico Fabio Amable Mota), Grant McGowan (Jacksonville, Fla./Mandarin), and Kevin Murphy (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) appeared in relief.
