Softball Splits With St. Elizabeth To Wrap Up Conference Play

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College softball split their final CSAC doubleheader of the season to St. Elizabeth University Friday afternoon. The Giants walked off game one 3-2, but dropped the second game, 5-2. Keystone now goes to 10-19 (9-6 CSAC) while St. Elizabeth moves to 22-11 (12-4 CSAC).

Game One: Keystone 3; St. Elizabeth 2

St. Elizabeth tacked on their only two runs of the contest in the second inning. Keystone was able to cut into their deficit with an RBI triple by Kabrina Birmingham (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City). Keystone was able to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI infield single by Isabell Benitez. In the bottom of the seventh, the Giants walked it off with an RBI fielder's choice by Brooke Staple (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) to take the first game.

Clare Johns (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) earned her fifth win of the season as she went the whole seven innings with one earned run and four strikeouts.

Game Two: St. Elizabeth 5; Keystone 2

Both the Giants and Eagles put up two runs in the second inning, and the game remained scoreless until the top of the seventh wher St. Elizabeth put up a three spot in that inning to give the team victory.

Benitez went 2-for-3 on the day while Mallory Perkins (Norwalk, OH/Edison) 1-for-3 with two RBI.

What's Next

Weather permitting, Keystone will host Lycoming College in a nonconference doubleheader on Sunday, April 30 at 1 p.m. in the team's final game of the regular season.
