LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team suffered a 13-8 defeat to the University of Scranton Sunday morning in the team's regular season finale. With the loss, Keystone drops to 27-12 with Scranton moving to 24-14.
Giovanni Diaz (Bronx, N.Y./Christopher Columbus) went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Justin Mann (St. John's, Fla./Bartram Trail) and Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic) each accounted for two base hits and one RBI. Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) contributed with a two-RBI double. Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) got the start and went 2.1 innings with two strikeouts. Anthony Mierez (Granby, Conn./Rockville), Cam Hale (Covington, Wash./Kentridge), Logan Lixie (Tamarac, Fla./J.P. Taravella), Ryan Oka (Auburn, Wash./Jefferson), Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), Dominic Verrastro (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland), and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) appeared in relief.
With the game tied 2-2 heading to the top of the third, the Royals used an eight-run third inning to give Scranton a big lead. The Giants battled back throughout the entire contest which included a five-run eighth inning, but unfortunately, fell short.
Keystone will prepare for the CSAC tournament on Wednesday, May 10 when they host St. Elizabeth University at 3 PM.
