LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College football team opened the new season in style as they defeated Gallaudet University 27-6 Sarurday afternoon at the Keystone College Turf Field.
Keystone jumps to 1-0 while Gallaudet University drops to 0-1. This is the first time in school history that Keystone Football starts the season at 1-0.
Donald Leach III (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) completed 11 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) had 20 carries for 100 yards with two scores. Jorden Cook (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) and Jayson Nami (Freehold Township, N.J./Freehold Township) both recorded receiving touchdowns.
Defensively, CJ Riccobono (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) and Joshua Orozco (Reading, Pa./Reading) both led Keystone with eight total tackles. Elijah Washington (Lawrence, N.Y./Lawrence) and Robxavier Mendez (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) recovered a fumble. Sean Pettway (Ellenville, N.Y./Ellenville) contributed with an interception.
Zac Cost (Dalton, Pa./Lackawanna Trail) had five punts for 190 yards with his longest going for 58 yards.
Keystone led 20-0 at half. Gallaudet got on the board with a rushing touchdown on the first drive of the second half. That would be the only score for Gallaudet in this game. Keystone answered with a Muhammad rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
The Giants will head to Hartwick College next Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
