Keystone Football Week Seven Preview: Wilkes

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College football team is back home for their week seven contest as they host Wilkes University on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 12 p.m.

Last season, the Colonels defeated the Giants 42-7 at Schmidt Stadium.

Keystone comes into the game following a tough 79-6 loss to nationally ranked Susquehanna University.

The team's lone score came in the fourth quarter as Frankie Leyshon (Lake Ariel, Pa./Western Wayne) threw his first career touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Stephen Tatum (Baltimore, Md./Edmundson). CJ Riccobono (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) and Zach Hoover (Elmhurst Township, Pa./North Pocono) both recorded six tackles to lead the Giants defense.

Kicker/punter Jeremiah Ortiz (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) punted 10 times for 336 yards and averaged close to 34 yards a punt.

Wilkes

The Wilkes University Colonels enjoyed a solid game as they were victorious over Lycoming College 53-28 last Saturday.

The run game and defense played a huge role in the win as running back Elijah Jules rushed for 214 yards with two scores. Quarterback Xavier Powell threw for 134 yards and caught a touchdown pass.

Donell Mackey-Woodson recorded three interceptions with two of them being pick-sixes. For his contribution, he was awarded Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time as well as D3football.com Team of the Week. Angel Ramos had seven total tackles to go along with two tackles for loss and a sack.

Kicker Nick Volpone was a perfect three-for-three on field goal attempts.

What's Next

The Giants will head to Williamsport to face Lycoming College next Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
