AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Keystone baseball wrapped up their time in Florida at the RussMatt Invitational with two wins on Saturday, defeating Gwynedd Mercy University and Muhlenberg college.
Game One: Keystone 9, Gwynedd Mercy 4
Brayan Villar (West Orange, N.J./Belleville) picked up the win on the mound for the Giants after striking out six batters in five innings against Gwynedd Mercy.
Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) went 3-for-4 at the plate and picked up two RBI. He also picked up two stolen bases during the game.
Darren Hagan (Aston, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) each crossed the plate twice and each added a double to the scorecard, accounting for two of the only three extra base hits by the Giants in this game.
Game Two: Keystone 15, Muhlenberg 2
Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) picked up the win on the mound against Muhlenberg after recording 10 strikeouts and only allowing one earned run in five innings. Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) added six strikeouts in the last two innings of the game.
Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/Ferris) went 2-for-3 at the plate and picked up two RBI. Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central), Hunter Rauch (Lincoln, Del./Cape Henlopen), and Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) each added another two RBI as Keystone strung together a great offensive showing in their 13-run victory.
What's Next
Keystone will travel back to the northeast and play Susquehanna University at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday March 20. Following that game the Giants will open conference play with a game at Cairn University on Friday March 22, immediately followed by a double-header against Cairn at home on Saturday March 23.
